Travel that works for everyone
28 of our 30 stations and piers are step-free from street to seat. Where we cannot yet manage that, we provide staff-assisted access and we say so before you travel.
Lifts, ramps and level boarding
All metro platforms are level with the train floor at every station. Tram stops are raised to meet the tram’s first step, and the ferry fleet carries its own boarding ramps with crew on hand at every sailing.
Lifts are monitored from Central Station and inspected weekly. If a lift is out of service we publish it under service updates, arrange staff assistance, and — where the journey is not possible — a taxi to the next accessible station at our cost.
The two exceptions
- Kastalinn (The Citadel) — Steep approach from Citadel Lane; staff-assisted access from the Gamla Aurhavn side.
- Steinberg (Stonehill) — Lift replacement until 30 October 2026 — step-free access is maintained from the Bergdal entrance, three minutes along Stonehill Lane.
On board
- Two wheelchair spaces and priority seats in every metro car and tram.
- Hearing loops at Central Station and on all metro trains; induction loops at ticket windows.
- Assistance dogs travel free on every line, at any hour.
- Buggies and bicycles: bikes are free on ferries and off-peak on metro and tram.
- Ferries carry 30–40 bicycles and have accessible toilets on the Skarv-class vessels.
Book travel assistance
We can meet you at the station, help with boarding and see you onto your connection. Book by 16:00 the day before travel — sooner if you can, but we will always try to help on the day.

Fares and companions
Passengers who need a companion to travel pay a single fare for themselves; the companion travels free on the same journey. Wheelchairs, mobility scooters up to 120 cm long and assistance dogs are always carried free.
Accessible information
Large-print timetables and the full network map in tactile form are available free from the Travel Centre. This website is built to work with screen readers and keyboard navigation, and every page prints cleanly. If something here does not work for you, tell us at postur@aurhavn.gold — we will fix it and reply.
