Fares & passes

One ticket covers every mode. What you pay depends on how many zones you cross — the City, the isles, or all the way out to the North Sound. No zones, no surcharges for changing between metro, tram and ferry.

Zones

Three zones, one network

Zone 1

City

All metro and tram stations, including North Harbour.

Single fare 4.60 kr

Zone 2

Isles

Skarv Isle, Lund Isle, Sealskerry and Cliff Isle.

Single fare 6.90 kr

Zone 3

Outer isles

Great Isle and Beacon Holme.

Single fare 9.20 kr

Journeys that cross a zone boundary are charged for every zone they touch. A journey from Central Station to Lund Isle crosses into Zone 2, so it costs 6.90 kr; a sailing on to Beacon Holme costs 9.20 kr.

Children under 6 travel free with a fare-paying adult (up to two children per adult). Tickets bought on board from staff carry a 2.00 kr surcharge.

Day Passes run 24 hours from first validation. 7-day and 30-day passes run from the day you choose.

Child / senior (any pass) Half the adult price

A Day Pass costs 2.5 singles: in the City zone it pays for itself on the third journey. Groups of 10 or more save 20% on adult singles when booked 48 hours ahead.

Fare cap. Pay as you go with a contactless card or phone and your day is capped at the Day Pass price — you never pay more than 11.50 kr (City) or 23.00 kr (all zones) in one day.

Where to buy

  • Ticket machines — At every station and pier. Cards and contactless; no cash on the metro.
  • Contactless (Aur Card, bank card or phone) — Tap in at the gate or reader. Best value: daily fare cap applies automatically.
  • Travel Centre at Aðalstöð — Mon–Fri 07:00–20:00, Sat–Sun 08:00–18:00. All passes, group bookings, refunds.
  • On board — Metro guards and ferry crew sell single tickets; 2.00 kr surcharge applies.

The small print

  • A single ticket is valid for 90 minutes from first validation, including changes between metro, tram and ferry.
  • Day Passes run for 24 hours from first validation, not until midnight.
  • Children under 6 travel free with a fare-paying adult (up to two children per adult).
  • Children aged 6-17 and passengers aged 67 and over pay half fare. Proof of age may be requested.
  • Bicycles and dogs travel free on ferries and off-peak on the metro and tram.
  • Tickets bought on board from staff carry a 2.00 kr surcharge. Ticket machines and contactless are cheaper.
  • Refunds for unused Day, 7-day and 30-day passes are available within 14 days of purchase, less any days used.
