Kelvet Bridge track renewal: M2 runs Fennveth – Rinveth only on Sunday evenings

What is happening

On Sundays 6, 13 and 20 September, after 20:00, Shore Line trains terminate at Rinveth while the Kelvet Bridge rails are replaced. Use the Harbour Ferry F1 between Rinveth and Kelvet Veth; sailings are extended to every 20 minutes until 23:30 on those evenings.

The rails on the Kelvet Bridge date from the Shore Line's opening in 2017 and are being replaced with a quieter, continuously welded track. The work can only be done when trains are not running and the tide is low, which is why it falls on Sunday evenings. Three evenings are planned; a fourth, Sunday 27 September, is held in reserve.

How to travel

  • Between RinvethStrait Shore and Kelvet VethKelvet Shore: use the Harbour Ferry F1. Sailings run every 20 minutes instead of every 30 until 23:30, with the last boat from Rinveth at 23:30 (normally 21:20). The crossing takes 10 minutes. M2 tickets and passes are valid.
  • For Kelvet AelKelvet Bridge: there is no ferry pier. Walk from Kelvet Veth (7 minutes, level) or from Rinveth over the footway of the bridge (12 minutes; the footway stays open).
  • For the funicular K1: the last car up from Kelvet Veth is unchanged at 22:00; the last car down leaves Tirkel at 22:00.
  • West of Rinveth: Shore Line trains run Fennveth – Rinveth every 15 minutes as normal.

Dunmar Line: no trains between Sulael and Aerost

Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September

Points renewal at Suliss Ost. Trains run Dunmar Aska – Sulael every 8 minutes. A replacement bus runs Sulael – Suliss Ost – Aerost every 10 minutes, taking about 18 minutes end to end; allow 25 minutes extra for the airport. The Lighthouse Ferry F2 accepts M1 tickets between Selsta Ost and Suliss Ost all weekend.

Kelvet Funicular: early finish for cable inspection

Monday 5 to Friday 9 October, 22:00 – close of service

The annual haul-rope inspection. Last cars leave Tirkel and Kelvet Veth at 21:50 instead of 22:30. No alternative transport serves Tower Hill after this time; the walking route via Fenn Steps takes about 20 minutes and is lit.

Selsta Ost pier: new pontoon in use

From Monday 12 October

The rebuilt northern pontoon opens with a level gangway at all tide states, making Selsta Ost pier step-free for the first time. The metro station above it remains stairs-only for now. Ferry berths change: F1 uses Pier A, F2 uses Pier B (previously the other way round). Signs and the departure boards are updated the same morning.

    Harbour Ferry: sailings from Dunmar Veth suspended for 45 minutes

    A medical emergency on board the 07:30 sailing. The vessel returned to Dunmar Veth and the passenger was taken to hospital by the ambulance service. Two sailings were cancelled and M1 accepted ferry tickets. We wish the passenger well and thank the crew of the Rin Aska.

    Fennveth: lift out of use

    The street-to-platform lift was repaired by 17:10 after a door sensor fault. Passengers needing step-free access were offered a taxi to Brunsta at our cost, arranged by the station team.

  • Friday 28 August, 16:00 – 20:30

    Lighthouse Ferry: Tirveth sailings cancelled for weather

    A force 7 south-westerly made berthing at Tirveth unsafe. F2 ran Selsta Ost – Issveth only. The 20:20 sailing operated as normal once the wind eased. Tirveth residents holding a Tirveth Resident Card were reimbursed taxi-boat fares as usual.

How we tell you

Where updates appear

  • This page and the departure boards at every station and pier, within five minutes of the control room's decision.
  • Announcements in Veikavan's two languages on every platform, pier and vehicle. Text versions show on the boards for passengers who cannot hear them.
  • Staff. Every station and pier is staffed from first to last service. During disruption, staff in amber tabards are at the interchange points.
  • Refunds. If a delay of more than 20 minutes is our fault, claim the fare back within 28 days through the enquiry form, choosing Fares, tickets and refunds. Passes are credited pro rata.

Sunday times apply on public holidays: 1 January, 21 March (Arren Day), 1 May, 24 June (Midsummer), 25 and 26 December. Christmas Day runs a reduced service from 10:00 to 18:00 on all lines.
